Funding

Due to the relevant retirement funds in this matter having been liquidated there was no fund or other entity who could pay for the cost of this Commission of Enquiry. The Commission was therefore relying on voluntary contributions to cover the costs. NOTE participation in the Commission was free and imposed no cost on any party.

In this regard an appeal was made to any party who is interested in knowing the truth in this matter and who welcomes the truth coming out to please make a voluntary contribution towards the cost of this Commission. Every bit helps and every bit was welcomed no matter how big or small.

In order that the funding of the Commission did not delay the start of proceedings Tony Kamionsky had given an undertaking that he will personally pay any shortfall in the funding for this Commission. This immediately raises the question as to whether this compromises the independence of the Commission given Tony Kamionsky was one of the parties blamed for the loss incurred by members. The answer is no – it most certainly does not. The Chair made it absolutely clear to Tony Kamionsky that he acts independently without fear or favour and that no special treatment will be given to him. In addition the Chair received full payment for his services prior to issuing his findings to ensure that he was not under any obligation to show bias to any party.
